Our History, Mission, & Vision

Changing the future of healthcare education.

Atlantis (formerly The Atlantis Project) was founded in 2007 by J.P. Toste while a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  In 2012, Atlantis became an independent, mission-driven company and has grown over the past decade into one of America's leading global healthcare education organizations. The Atlantis headquarters and team are based in Washington, D.C and manages The Atlantis Fellowship - which is run in Europe and South America.

Our mission is to equip the next generation of global medical leaders to pursue their callings passionately. We want every Fellowship program we run to reflect a deep concern for ethical solidity, educational value and innovative thinking.

Our vision is to become the world's leading healthcare education company by connecting students, universities, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and public healthcare administrators around a common cause of improving healthcare training and education. We believe that the fastest and best way to improve global patient care is to promote knowledge-sharing and best practices across borders, improving communication channels across languages, cultures, and geographic divides, with the ultimate goal of better serving those in need: the sick, the injured, and all those in need of physical or mental care.
